The key to building affordable is planning...lots of planning. One must know exactly what they are going to build before starting. This way you can make a budget. Design is a good place to start. You need to think practical not super sized. You must really think how you are going to use your house on a day to day schedule. Do not think of the few times a year you will be entertaining guests. The real life starts in the kitchen moves to the living room and ends in the bedroom. You did not hear family room, guest room, office, game room, mud room and or extra pantry. Yes one must down size. But do not look at this is a negative way, or a sacrifice but a freedom and a blessing!
