It will be hard to expressed just how pleased and impressed we are with our home built by Matt Callero and Mango construction. I have been involved in several building and remodeling projects in the states, so I am not unfamiliar with the process. However, I have never experienced such attention to detail and craftmanship as I did from Matt and his crew. His knowledge of building in the tropic/jungle environment coupled with a very practical approach to design made for an extremely comfortable, functional house and property that will most certainly yield less head aches and maintenance as time goes on. An example is that he is very particular about the electrical and plumbing components that he uses, even down to importing the fan switches from US because the quality is so much better.
It was a real eye opener witnessing the challenges of building in Costa Rica between the municipalities, suppliers (and supplies), logistics and weather, but Matt has learned to navigate and compensate for all the challenges. He is on the job site every day, working alongside his crew which really moves the project along. We were finished in just about 6 months, which is amazing considering the challenges mentioned above. It should be mentioned that his crew is amazing and are all “disciples” of his detail and craftmanship, it was a real piece of mind having the same “tight knit” bunch day after day and not having to rely on sub-contractors that don’t have the same values and training.
We cannot say enough as to how happy and blown away we are with the quality and comfort of our house and property. If you are thinking of building (I researched it and you are money ahead in building) you need to sit down with Matt and talk about what you are envisioning. I know you will find Matt’s knowledge and insights appealing.
